Virtual Sampling

KNIT.express by KNIT.melbourne is the first virtual knit sampling service available in Australia.

KNIT.express service designers have the  ability to see a realistic simulation before committing to a design, or they can visually communicate to anyone anywhere in the world quickly and easily. Pushing creativity further without the risk and expense of numerous samples, wasted physical resources and time.

Using KNIT.express enables the planning process  to be dramatically reduced whilst effectively and realistically communicating design developments right through to the final preproduction samples in a very short time and with very low cost.

A virtually swatch being created within 2 - 4 hours or a knit garment simulated with in 12 - 18 hours for  priority clients. Imagine a collection with alternate colourways photo simulated within a week.

KNIT.express provide high res realistic images that are able to be used for look books and social media, all without knitting a stitch.  The data used to create those designs is also the technical knit information that is used by the programmers at the factories. So you can not only be supplied with the high res simulation for the designers but also the technical knit program for the factory. Meaning there is no room for interpretation from the factory, it cuts down on their lead time and means production gets going quicker.

KNIT.express has the capability to simulate bespoke yarns or scan in commercial yarns, match Pantone colours, simulate swatches, create colourways and produce 2D and 3D simulation of knitted garments or any knit product. If your company creates yarns a full simulation can be done of different fibres, melange compositions, colour combinations and weights. Or any yarn can simply be scanned in and applied to the knit product.

Virtual sampling and the digitisation of communication significantly reduces lead time for product development. The product planning can be delayed as much as possible so that the latest trends can be reflected accurately, also improving forecasting accuracy of product demand. Having accurate and timely responses to product demand results in less sale items and lost opportunities, the flow on that being increased sustainability through the reduction of unsold discarded products. From the yarn and  knit structure through to the final garment virtual sampling can shorten the design and sampling process by months. No shipping, no waste, no back and forth emails.

Clear and concise communication and photo realistic images means that designers get what they want quicker and factories waste less time and resources in development.
